Our Story: A Journey Inspired by Lucy
In loving memory of Lucy
May 25, 2011 – August 5, 2025
My mission began with Lucy — an American Staffordshire Terrier who had endured the unthinkable. Malnourished and terrified, Lucy was rescued from a veterinarian’s office shut down by Animal Control for extreme neglect and abuse.

She had been locked in a tiny crate for months, forgotten by the world.
When I adopted her, she didn’t know how to feel safe… or even how to be a dog. Her fear showed up as panic. Her energy was frantic. And one by one, trainers told me she was too far gone.
But I didn’t see a broken dog. I saw a soul desperate for a second chance.
So I stopped searching for someone to save her — and became the person who would.
I immersed myself in learning everything I could about canine behavior, trauma recovery, and ethical training.
Day by day, Lucy slowly began to trust. Her world expanded. Her tail wagged. And for the first time in her life… she felt safe.

Lucy became the heart behind everything I do. Her transformation lit a fire in me, and her journey shaped every piece of this work. She reminded me — and continues to remind me — that no dog is ever beyond hope.
On August 5, 2025, Lucy passed peacefully, surrounded by the love she once didn’t know how to receive. She was 14 years old. Joyful. Calm. Whole.

She was my reason. She still is.

Human Focused Training
Lasting results don’t happen unless the humans are empowered too. We teach calm leadership, daily structure, and the communication skills you’ll use for a lifetime.
Rescue at the Heart
A portion of every training program helps save, rehabilitate, and rehome dogs who would otherwise be forgotten. Dogs like Shiloh — a beautiful Catahoula left to die in the desert, terrified of humans. Through weeks of patient work, socialization, and trust-building, she found her forever family and now lives a happy, secure life.

Trainers Held to Higher Standards
All trainers at THE DOG SERVICES complete formal training, are certified in Dog CPR through PetTech (one of the highest recognized standards), and are AKC Evaluators. We don’t believe in shortcuts — we believe in education, integrity, and consistency.
